Adventure Guides
Looking to get more involved in the History Center? Enjoy teaching, working with kids, and fostering curiosity? Join us as we develop a new corps of volunteers for our Education activities including field trips, outreach, and camps.
These new “Adventure Guides” will learn the foundations of museum education, receive training on the History Center’s historic buildings and their stories, and more. Adventure Guides will have the chance to volunteer for scheduled group visits using a simple online platform after completing two training sessions: the first will be a general overview of the program’s requirements and the next will be a modeled field trip.
Adventure Guides must be comfortable dealing with all the little folks and the grown ones too; be enthusiastic and curious; and be able to stand for long periods of time. Volunteers may be subject to a background check and must abide by the History Center’s policies and procedures. Volunteers will also complete The Treehouse’s Stewards of Children training.
Field trips are scheduled for weekday mornings, generally between 9 am and Noon. Volunteers may be called upon to volunteer at other youth-centric events such as Halloween or our annual summer camps.
