The Jack Hadley Black History Museum, Thomasville History Center, and the City of Thomasville are proud to announce the initiation of The Bottom Oral History Project. This African American business district’s rich history will be recorded and documented to embrace the culture and experiences it provided for the citizens of Thomasville; however, we need the support and assistance of the local Thomasville community to illustrate and comprehend this significant area in Georgia.

Local Non-Profits Launch Thomas County Chronicles COVID Thomasville Times-Enterprise

The Thomasville History Center is embarking on an initiative with The Jack Hadley Black History Museum, Pebble Hill Plantation, Thomasville Center for the Arts, and the Thomas County Library system.
 
As we all work through these very troubling times and try to keep our personal and professional lives in order during the COVID-19 pandemic, we want to provide an avenue for our community to collect, share, and document the stories surrounding this event. We hope this will also provide future generations with documentation that will show how our community endured this time in our history.

Digital Library of Georgia

Digital Library of Georgia awards six Competitive Digitization service grants to Georgia cultural heritage institutions across the state including the Thomasville History Center.

The grant will allow for the digitization of the correspondence and diaries of Hazel Beamer Cutler, a Broadway entertainer, and her family friend Candace Wheeler, founder of the American decorative arts movement, both of whom lived in southwest Georgia.
