Explore Archives In-Person
The Thomasville History Center has a large archival collection that is available for research by the public, free of charge. Our archive is useful whether you are researching genealogy, property, organizations, or any other aspect of regional history.
It also includes many photographs, negatives, slides, and other image capture media. It is highly recommended you contact the History Center before your visit to schedule a research appointment to best maximize your time. Please contact Curator Ephraim Rotter at ephraim@thomascountyhistory.org to schedule your appointment.
Things to bring and consider for your research visit:
- Bring recording instruments for your notes like pencils, paper, laptop computer, or tablet.
- Photographing of documents is permitted.
- A list of detailed questions you need help answering.
- Bring full names and addresses of individuals if you have them.
- Research can be time-consuming so be sure to give yourself plenty of time to explore our collections.
- Take a minute to check our online catalog before your visit to see if you can find the answer to your questions or to know what documents to ask for; although not comprehensive, our online resources can be helpful to start your research.
