Youth Camps

The Thomasville History Center’s camps bring history to life for students in rising Kindergarten through rising 8th grade each summer. Each day brings new adventures and a little museum mischief as we explore the history, people, and stories of our community.

Camp Dawson

Camp Dawson utilizes the History Center’s historic campus as our classroom as we balance curiosity, crafts, and imaginative play.

Campers will get hands-on with history, conducting an archaeology dig in the History Center’s backyard, testing their skills in the Log House kitchen, tending a pioneer garden, “meeting” people of the past, and much more while they explore the evolution of our community.

Archi-Camp

Designed for rising 6th to rising 8th graders, participants will delve into Thomasville’s architecture, learn about the families who resided there, and explore historic preservation. Drawing inspiration from local neighborhoods, each camper will design and “build” a house or commercial structure using cardboard boxes and various materials. These creations will come together in a temporary diorama displayed at the Lapham-Patterson House. Presented in partnership with Thomasville Landmarks.
