Over the last year, the Thomasville History Center has undertaken a project to renovate and reimage its exhibit galleries in the historic Flowers-Roberts House. Work on this project began in the summer of 2020 and finished in early May 2021.
In total, History Center staff drafted and installed more than 4,380 square feet of new text labels and stories in the Davis Wing Gallery and in the front rooms of the Flowers-Roberts House. With the support of several local contractors, including C&S Machine Co., International Design and Display Group, Vital Signs, Summerhill Creative, and more, the History Center has modernized its exhibitions and storytelling.
The History Center will re-open the Flowers-Roberts House and its exhibits to the public beginning Friday, May 14. In addition to the opening, the History Center will begin a new admission pricing structure to reflect the quality and quantities of stories told. Independent tours, designed for self-paced exploration of the interior exhibits and historic buildings, will be available Monday through Saturday from 10am until 4pm at a rate of $8 for adults and $3 for students (ages 6-17). Guided grounds tours will be available Mondays through Fridays at 11am or 2pm at a rate of $10 per adult and $5 per student. Both tour options will include the new 10 minute orientation video narrated by June White and self-paced exploration of the interior of the Flowers-Roberts House’s exhibitions.
